A Closed Circuit Camera, which has a DVR is not completely analog. The CCTV transmits the video signal in an analog format and the connected DVR transmits the received signals to the digital format prior to recording and sending over the respective network.

An NVR contains no dedicated video capture hardware. However, the software is typically run on a dedicated device, usually with an embedded operating system.
Network video recorders are distinct from digital video recorders (DVR) as their input is from a network rather than a direct connection to a video capture card or tuner. Video on a DVR is encoded and processed at the DVR, while video on an NVR is encoded and processed at the camera, then streamed to the NVR for storage or remote viewing. Additional processing may be done at the NVR, such as further compression or tagging with meta data.
A DVR normally supports HD-TVI, AHD, CVBS, and HD-CVI technologies. The quality of video varies in each technology. Also, the DVRs are available in different resolutions.For instance, 720p resolution initiates from the quantity of pixels in the image, which is 1280 x 720 vertically and horizontally respectively. If you increase these pixels, you will get a complete 921,600 pixels that is equal to 0.9 Mega pixels. And 1080p resolution initiates from the quantity of pixels in the image, which is 1920 x 1080 horizontally and vertically respectively. If you multiply all these pixels, you will get 2,073,600 pixels, which is equal to 2 Mega pixels.
